The Women’s History Coalition (The Coalition) was founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1986 by a group of women in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The primary purpose is to coordinate and promote Women's History Month, which is nationally celebrated each March. The Coalition has a multi-ethnic Board of Directors elected by its membership annually and all programs are accomplished by volunteers who have a common interest in preserving the history and contributions of women in South Florida. Members, community contributions and grants from the county and many community agencies support activities.

HERSTORY

 

Herstory’s purpose is to emphasize women’s roles in history through educational, welfare, patriotic, and cultural programs and activities. Additionally, to research and periodically update the record of women for their contributions of community service.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH REQUESTED FOR NEW PUBLICATION

The HERSTORY Committee is now accepting biographical sketch of women in our community for consideration of inclusion in the third edition of the HERSTORY publications highlighted below.
Women submitting biographical sketch MUST ALSO INCLUDE a 5x7 black & white head shot photo. If chosen, honorees will be asked to submit a JPEG copy of the photo electronically.

Deadline: Ongoing

Cost: $10 donation per submittal. Check is payble to the Women's History Coalition and mailed with the submittal to the address listed.

Biographical sketch and the 5x7 black & white head shot photos should be submitted by US mail to:

PUBLICATIONS

The first publication was called, Julia’s Daughters: Women in Dade’s History, and the second publication was called, Beyond Julia’s Daughters. Both are available through the Women’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade County.
